Our Story
From her first childhood plot in her mother's kitchen garden in the Ottawa Valley, Riel Brown has been passionate about growing and creating.
With an educational background in sculpture, craft and design, and a passion for environmental stewardship, architecture and permaculture, developing a landscape design practice was a natural fit.
Riel has been restoring, designing and building gardens and landscapes since 2007. In 2016, she made the shift from downtown Toronto to Prince Edward County, and adjusted her practice to reflect her new geography.
From the naturalized meadow garden to the structured landscape, Riel has built her practice around sourcing local and regional materials and creating landscapes with a focus on habitat and soil restoration, hardiness and pollinator health.
In 2019, Riel collaborated with Glenn Guernsey of Black River Farm, on a South Bay shoreline restoration project.
Born and raised in Milford, Glenn has operated a tree service and excavation business in the area for twenty-five years. With a broad and solid skill set, and over 40 years of combined industry experience, Riel and Glenn have developed an excellent partnership. Together, they create exceptional landscapes.
